Synopsis of study:

For my Final Major Project, I will be creating a lifestyle publication, titled Harding, with strong influences from creative pathways.

‘Harding is a magazine company which thrives on new creative talent, we bring the latest development in fashion, design and lifestyle through a blog, annual and inspirational, creative workshops.  We are honest, we are real, we are yours.’

For this project I am going to realise the magazine annual element of the business by researching talented artisans, quirky stores, interesting recipes, cool places and more to create a collection of innovative design to produce the Harding lifestyle annual.

An estimate of 100 pages of well designed layouts, beautifully shot photographs, inspiring stories and much more, Harding will be the annual displayed on coffee tables, cut and pasted onto mood boards, torn apart and kept in your notebooks for constant inspiration and loved page by page.

Harding annuals will be very tactile; the pages will be full of visual information and inspiration. With ideas on how to do up your new home, where to shop for the perfect accessories, what to do with your rainy day fund, Harding will present a new lifestyle to its readers - the Harding lifestyle. These annuals will be timeless, pieces written that will be relevant for years to come and they will be a constant source of inspiration.

Using multiple journalists, photographers, illustrators, graphic designers and more, Harding it’s self will be a collation of talent. Much like the talent in the pages, Harding is all about celebrating new and exciting things, from artisans and entrepreneurs to a new rug and short stories - we believe innovation and inspiration can be found in all things.

Harding is not superficial and so will not feature high styled fashion images, or where to buy the latest fashion trends but will explore its content in natural ways, with polaroid’s, and fast photography. None of our content will be shot in a studio.

I intend to give contributors as much creative freedom as possible when producing content for Harding. We are open to fiction and nonfiction, articles and interviews, illustrations and photographs, poems and recipes – anything done honestly and creatively.

Harding will explore the ideas of reading, seeing, doing, living and remembering something; having chapters on each of these subject areas for our readers to submerge themselves into. Being able to get lost in the world of Harding is one of our goals. Readers will be able to take a break from the stresses of life to read a fictional story, or become inspired in the kitchen with recipes – our aim is to be more than a coffee table accessory.
